Based on a tracker from The Washington Post, at least 232 black folks were shot and killed. These figures include all deaths resulting directly from encounters with law enforcement, while the Post counts only people who were shot and killed by police. The Post found that out of all the unarmed people killed that 36 % were unarmed black males, which is quite disproportionate since black men make up only 6 percent of the U.S. population. This is why i decided to create these hands together begging for mercy is hand that is up to signify an unarmed citizen being gunned down. There has been many recent cases especially in 2016 when police have over used there force and killed people that caused no immediate threat to them. So you have to ask the question "When is the police in the right when deciding to kill someone" by asking this question, you also have to ask when can a policemen use the defense that they often use and get away with, the classic "I feared for my life and the life of others. This is a qurstion that must be figured out and laws need to be implemented to help fix these issues in law enforcement. The hand signifies what a man would do when they feared for there life before they get shot. It would be them with there hands together pleading, saying "Don't shoot" which could very well be their last words.
